About Us
Brand Overview
The Xcellweb Internet Services brand was first
established in May 2003 but can trace it roots
back to July 2002. It is owned solely by
WirralNet, a thriving UK based company, which is
100% privately funded and 100% debt free.
WirralNet has enjoyed a steady growth rate since
it entered the internet services industry in
July 2002 and it is fast becoming one of the
leading players in the UK. With the Xcellweb
Internet Services brand, it is hoped that
WirralNet can now continue this success in the
worldwide market and backed with our years of
experience and skills, and our dedication to
customer service, we firmly believe this can be
achieved.
Company Background
The brand is owned solely by WirralNet (formerly
UK PC Net), a UK based company that began
offering web based services in July 2002. The
company started via the demise of an internet
radio station offering shoutcast streaming media
servers and cPanel shared web hosting. The
company was the first UK based provider of
streaming media servers based on the shoutcast
technology and amongst the first in the world.
In late 2003 the company separated its different
services into separate brands, UK Shoutcast, UK
Reseller, UK PC Hosting. In early 2003, the
founder of UK PC Net also helped to fund the
start up of Xcellweb, which was initially a
Liverpool based web consultancy and development
service, although it was never included under
the UK PC Net brand. In March 2004, the company
began UK DediServ, a dedicated server division
of the company.
In the summer of 2004, UK PC Net sold both its
shared and reseller web hosting divisions in a
bid to spend more time and resources developing
its core shoutcast and dedicated server
divisions. However, in late 2004, Xcellweb
entered financial troubles and was eventually
saved by the founder of UK PC Net purchasing the
company as a whole and moving it into the UK
shared web hosting market.
In late 2005, UK PC Net decided upon re-uniting
all its services under one worldwide brand and
it decided upon the Xcellweb brand to do this.
So since November 2005, Xcellweb Internet
Services has now become the flagship brand for
all major UK PC Net services and now has
clientele worldwide, including clients from
Australia, Lebanon and in the summer of 2006 we
welcomed our first East Asian client.
During 2007, the company grew from strength to
strength, and the parent company was re-branded
to WirralNet as part of its 5th birthday
celebrations. In early 2008, a new client centre
is to launch which will significantly improve
our services for customers, as well as the
introduction of an affiliate plan, new ordering
system and new support system. In January 2008,
WirralNet also regained the rights to the
ukreseller.net domain name. |
